Returning to the Origin: The Invisible Energy
On March 30, 2026, a special 5th-anniversary fashion show for “Sumizome Artisan Miyuki -miyuki-” was held at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, one of Japan’s most prestigious cultural venues. From this extraordinary stage structured around seven unique stories, we would first like to introduce the special piece that marks the very origin of our brand.
What the 【根 -roots-】 team portrays is “Tree Roots” as a symbol of vital energy. This theme represents the foundational origin that supported the genesis of Sumizome Artisan Miyuki.
An invisible energy that spreads deeply, silently, yet powerfully across the earth. We poured our profound wishes into these creations, hoping that wrapping oneself in these garments would allow the wearer to connect with their own unshakeable “roots.”
Tailoring the “Profound Obi”: Where Tradition Intersects with Modernity
The opening garment that graced the runway for this team was crafted with extraordinary technical precision. Utilizing the slash quilt technique, we created an original Obi by layering traditional Japanese “Uchikage” (wedding overkimono) with modern “leather” multiple times. The result is a monumental piece where the overwhelming weight of handcrafted artistry coexists with a contemporary edge.

Against the borrowed backdrop of the museum’s solemn spaces and the Japanese garden in full bloom with cherry blossoms, please enjoy the grace of the models as they brought the runway to life with vibrant and dignified elegance.
