Pride in Connecting Japan’s Spiritual Beauty to the Future: Reverence for Kimono and Ink Culture
On March 30, 2026, a special 5th-anniversary fashion show for “Sumizome Artisan Miyuki -miyuki-” was held at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, one of Japan’s most prestigious cultural venues. From this extraordinary stage structured around seven unique stories, we are honored to introduce the special pieces that weave together the Japanese traditions and spiritual beauty we must pass down to future generations.
What the 【誇 -hokori-】 team portrays is “pride in connecting Japan’s spiritual beauty to the future.”
This theme gets straight to the very heart of this show, infused with our extraordinary reverence and passion for the Kimono and Sumi (ink) cultures that we have cherished since ancient times. From traditional “Sumizome Kimonos” to “Sumizome Wa-Dresses” breathed with modern life, and “Uchikake” (overkimonos) crafted from organdy fabric that shimmer translucently with light—we expressed a delicate yet bold Japanese aesthetic through a collection condensed with our unique sensibility and worldview.
The Essence of Japanese Beauty, Revealed in a Dignified Presence
These garments, with their overwhelming presence, blend more beautifully than anything else into the historic space of the Kyoto art museum. We deliver the profound depth of Japanese culture, alongside the artisan’s pride in bridging it to the future, riding upon the sophisticated colors of Sumi ink.
