Sumizome Artisan Miyuki: 5th Anniversary Event at Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art 【瑠生繋 -roots-】 Team

Layering Sumizome onto the Kimono: Stacking History to Connect with the Future

On March 30, 2026, a special 5th-anniversary fashion show for “Sumizome Artisan Miyuki -miyuki-” was held at the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, one of Japan’s most prestigious cultural venues. Serving as the grand finale of this extraordinary stage structured around seven unique stories, this final chapter introduces special pieces that spin the thread of life from the past into the future, carrying a sentiment akin to a prayer.

What the 【瑠生繋 -roots-】 team portrays is the “layering of history” and “inheritance for the future.”

By superimposing multiple layers of Sumizome onto the Kimono—the very essence of Japanese tradition—this chapter expresses the history we have walked and the future we are about to create. Throughout my journey, I have consistently drawn “Roots” as a symbol of vital energy within my works. The quiet beauty breathing inside Japanese culture, the traditions passed down through generations, and our profound spirituality—I am certain that these, too, act as essential “roots” that support us from the depths of our being, even if they remain invisible to the eye.

A Garment of Prayer to Cherish One’s Own Origins

In today’s fiercely changing modern world, I hope that wrapping oneself in these “Roots” patterns serves as an opportunity to look inward, reflect on one’s heart, and cherish one’s own unshakeable origins. With such profound wishes and prayers, we deliver these works, having breathed life into each and every piece.

Against the borrowed backdrop of the museum’s solemn spaces and the Japanese garden in full bloom with cherry blossoms, please enjoy the grace of the models as they brought the runway to life with vibrant and dignified elegance.
