The brilliance of sumizome that captivated the world
We are delighted to announce that at the MRS ASIA PACIFIC 2024 World Competition held in Malaysia on December 7, 2024, Ms. Masae Tadokoro wore a sumizome costume created by Sumizome Artisan Miyuki as her national costume and won the most titles in history. We sincerely congratulate her on this remarkable achievement.
Ms. Tadokoro presented a special national costume based on a sumizome (ink-dyed) uchikake (ceremonial robe). Combining an obi (sash) and several types of sumizome stoles, and arranging a gold rope around the waist, he created a unique outfit that fused traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern elements.
This costume was made entirely by our company, from dyeing the fabric to sewing and final arrangements. We made detailed adjustments right up until departure, and put a lot of effort into bringing out Mr. Tadokoro’s charm to the fullest.
