A fragile yet supple woman of strength
In this piece, I expressed the duality of a woman’s fragility and strength using light ink. A short-length cotton rayon blouse dyed with ink is paired with a handwritten kimono-style collar. The high collar represents the dignity of Japanese women. The skirt section is made from cotton fabric dyed with ink, which is tucked into a petticoat. I combined different materials, such a deer leather, to express the fusion of Japanese and Western styles. To explore the possibilities of square-based design, everything except the blouse is composed of squares.
